Associate Professor of Instruction or Associate Professor of Practice

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Iowa invites applications and nominations for a Lecturer, Associate Professor of Instruction or Associate Professor of Practice on the instructional faculty track in the general area of Computer Science and Engineering to begin in the spring or fall semester 2020. 

This position requires a PhD in computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related discipline, or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree combined with professional and/or teaching experience in the disciplines listed. Required qualifications include a strong commitment to effective teaching and mentoring students in the general area of Computer Science and Engineering, excellent communication skills, the potential to be an effective instructor and a commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.

It is expected that the successful candidate will be an engaging and effective teacher of undergraduate computer science and engineering courses. Position responsibilities include classroom teaching of undergraduate courses, effective laboratory development and supervision, undergraduate student advising, and working with other faculty on innovative teaching methods and curricular advances. The salary and work expectations are based on the University’s nine-month academic calendar
