Undergraduate teaching assistantships. The department tries to hire students who have demonstrated mastery in a course as demonstrated by an A or A+ in it, with consideration for the student’s overall academic performance, and whether their course load will give them enough time to take on the position.
Graduate teaching assistantships. Priority is given to PhD students with limited spaces available for Masters’ degree students. Graduate teaching assistantships are awarded on the basis of departmental teaching needs, availability of funds, and role of the assistantship in the graduate student’s overall goals.
